Downtown Water Project

During the next several months (between January and September of 2010), the City of Kannapolis will be working to upgrade all the water lines downtown. This is part of an ongoing process to continue untangling utilities from the Old Cannon Mills Complex.

The current lines were installed between the 1930s and 1950s and have come to the end of their lifespan. Replacing these lines will help the City keep its infrastructure up-to-date and modern and it will also help provide better fire protection.

During the course of this project, engineer Mark McGregor will be available 24-7 to take calls and questions from those impacted by the project. He is available for any assistance that might be needed. Additionally, a weekly email update will be sent to update the project timeline and provide any details available on road closures. To sign-up for that email, please click here.

The project is planned to occur block-by-block, one side of the street at the time. Updates will be posted on a project blog during construction.
