Mike Legg

Mike Legg became City Manager of Kannapolis in 2004. Mike has a history of dedicated service to the City of Kannapolis. He served as interim city manager for almost three months prior to becoming City Manager. Prior to becoming City Manger, Legg served as Assistant City Manager and Planning Director.

Mike is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Geography/Urban and Regional Planning and a graduate of the UNC School of Government Municipal Administration Course. Mike's professional career has included employment with the City of Charlotte, the City of Cape Coral, Florida, and the Western Piedmont Council of Governments in Hickory, NC.

Mike is currently active with the International City and County Managers Association (ICMA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) Board of Directors, The United Way of the Carolinas Board of Directors, the Cabarrus County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, and Cabarrus Arts Council Board of Directors.

A native of Charlotte, Mike is married with two children.
