Fire Department

The Kannapolis Fire Department proudly protects over 42,000 people living in an area of over 32 square miles.

The fire department has 71 full-time positions, 10 part-time firefighters, and 15 reserve personnel. A schedule of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty is worked by 63 career firefighters. The remainder of the full-time staff consists of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Administrative Assistant, Division Chief of Personnel Development, Division Chief of Risk Reduction, two Fire Inspectors, and a Public Educator.

Fire equipment operated by the department includes five primary engines, one ladder truck, two brush trucks, one equipment truck and one Command vehicle.

The fire department has a Fire Protection Classification (ISO) of Class 4.
