Public Works

The Kannapolis Public Works Department provides its citizens and customers environmental services that include solid waste and yard waste collection as well as storm water management system that operates in compliance with federally mandated regulations.

The Transportation Division maintains over 222 miles of streets, including right-of-ways, signs and pedestrian infrastructure within the incorporated City limits.

Engineering conducts site reviews and inspections to ensure that the City’s infrastructure meets all federal, state and local standards.

The Water Resources Division manages over 325 of water and wastewater infrastructure that includes 15 wastewater lift stations and one finished water pump station that serves approximately 17,000 customers.

The Stormwater Division maintains over 440 miles of stormwater conveyance systems in the public right-of-ways within the incorporated City limits.

The Department operates out of the City of Kannapolis Public Works Operations Center (PWOC) located at 1401 Bethpage Road.
